What is the Average Penis Size

It seems like such an easy question…what is the average penis size? When most men Google this question, they are seeking on very specific piece of information: length.

Because men are accustomed to watching porn or interacting with other males in the locker room, men never consider anything besides the long dong.

For many years, medicine and science has agreed that the average penis size was simply a matter of taking the measure of a man was as easy as pull out a ruler; however, they did not agree on where to start or end. These early studies did not have the same criteria for measurement. For example, some studies thought that men should be measured by just the shaft of the penis because this was the only part that differed from man to man.

Other studies answer the question “what is the average penis size” by measuring a man from base to tip because this includes all of the places in between that might increase size as the head of the penis might be larger or smaller.

Which way is right? Well, in truth, both are right, but these are not the only questions that should be examined when asking what the average size of a penis size is.

As each study produces a result that varies from 5.1 inches to 5.6 inches, there are other factors that contribute to this answer. A study in 2013 published in the Journal for Sexual Medicine found that the average penis size was 5.6 inches. For most men, this was not very good news, but this study only examined about 1000 men.

A 2015 Kings College study examined the results from several studies of over 15,000 men from Asia, Europe, and North America to release 5.1 inches as the average penis length. As noted, there can be a vast difference between the results of one study and the results of several studies – about .5 of an inch – but there are other differences in these studies than just the number of men measured or the nationality of men in the study.

Although there are many studies seeking to answer this often asked question, there are many differences between these studies that make it easier to view a range of “average” instead of one single point that is the line between below average, average, and above average. Some of these studies where completed while men where awake. Some studies were completed while men were asleep under anesthesia. In some studies, men were measured while standing while others were measured while lying down.

In Men’s Health magazine, an article called Science Reveals Average Penis Size, states that “anything between around 4 inches and 6.3 inches when erect would cover 90 percent of guys.” Although this is a large range of over 2.3 inches, it does cover the vast majority of men.

In reality, the answer to the question what is the average penis size is not as simple as saying if you are (fill in the blank) in length, then you are average as 90% of men fall into a range between 5.1 to 5.6 inches. Just like there is a range of shoes sizes, there is a range for the average penis sizes that allow for inclusion over exclusion.
